The Bronzed Tiger Beetle (Cicindela repanda repanda) is one of the most widespread and familiar Nearctic tiger beetles. This gregarious species occurs near water, often in very substantial numbers adjacent to the water's edge. Potential habitats include coastal beaches and shorelines, river islands and banks, shores of ponds and lakes, and occasionally even gravel pits. The larvae prefer wet sandy substrates, so this species tends to be found close to the water in sandy habitats. This species can frequently be found sympatrically with Cicindela duodecimguttata where adequate habitat exists, and sometimes with Cicindela ancocisconensis along higher elevation creeks and rivers. In coastal areas, it may sometimes occur with Cicindela hirticollis, Ellipsoptera puritana, E. marginata, or Habroscelimorpha dorsalis(Knisley & Schultz, 1997).
