A Western Meadowlark in Hurlock, Dorchester Co., Maryland (8/31/2008). First record for Delmarva Peninsula and second accepted record for Maryland (#2008-064). Found by Hubick, Brighton, Lutmerding, and Gutberlet on an August Big Day. It was identified by diagnostic 'chuck' calls, which are audible in Mikey Lutmerding's video of the bird. The other accepted record of the species for Maryland (M. O'Brien, P. O'Brien, et al.) was from Frederick County on 1/26/1992. One additional sighting did not permit confirmation of identity by call note (Ellison et al., Allegany Co., 6/10/2006). Photo by Bill Hubick. (MBP list)
