Found scattered or in groups on ground in predominantly oak forests.

Description:

Cap: Variable in purplish, red-brown range; wrinkled; convex; flesh white. Pores: White to yellowish in age. Stalk: Apex and base lighter; middle with rose tinge; reticulated; flesh white. (J. Solem, pers. comm.)
