Polistes parametricus Matthias Buck et al., 2012    Synonyms: Parametric Paper Wasp.
Kingdom Animalia   >   Phylum Arthropoda   >   Class Insecta   >   Order Hymenoptera   >   Family Vespidae   >   Genus Polistes

Status:

BugGuide: This species was recently described in Zootaxa 3502: 1–48 (Buck et al., 2012). It was previously confused with other species from the P. fuscatus-group (P. fuscatus, P. metricus). The species was first mentioned in the Identification Atlas of the Vespidae of the Northeastern Nearctic Region as "species B". ... The name parametricus refers both to the similarity with P. metricus and to the fact that morphometric parameters played a crucial role in defining this species.

Distribution is still insufficiently known: southern Pennsylvania to southwestern North Carolina, west to Missouri (BugGuide).

There are 22 records in the project database.
