Status:

Solitary or scattered on ground in mixed forests or lawns under oaks.

Description:

Cap: Red when young, margin orange in age with cottony yellowish warts; hemispherical to flat or sunken center in age; smooth, tacky when wet; margin striated sometimes with veil remnants. Gills: Yellowish; crowded; edges fringed. Stalk: Yellowish; powdery; no ring; rounded bulb may have veil remnants and prominent striations. (J. Solem, pers. comm.)
