A rare damselfly of grassy still water wetlands. Found only in Garrett County. Ranked as an S1 due to its rarity in Maryland. This species is primarily northern in distribution, and Maryland is near the southern edge of its range.
Northern and Boreal Bluet females are nearly impossible to distinguish from photographs. Boreal Bluets (Enallagma boreale) have never been recorded in MD, but there is hope that they will turn up in Garrett County.
There are 29 records in the project database.
