The Dog Flea was never as abundant as the Cat Flea. Eckerlin noted in his 2011 paper few collections were made in the eastern U.S. for the last 40 or 50 years. The Maryland record noted in Eckerlin (2011) was from 1920 (Fox, 1940). (Eckerlin, 2011)
