Arachtober Field Trip
** We regret that this event is canceled due to inclement weather. **
October is prime time for spiders! MBP seeks to expand the Bolas Spider species count and sightings.
Join trip leader Bonnie Ott to learn how to find Bolas Spiders. Every sighting is precious! So, what makes these spiders so difficult to find? Bolas Spiders are such good experts at camouflage that they are hardly even recognizable as a spider. They are commonly overlooked as a bird dropping or gall and they tend to spend the day immobile on leaves.
Trying to find this spider will be a fun challenge and highly rewarding because whether or not you find one, you’re bound to find plenty of other cool creatures out there. In short, this field trip is going to be a Bolas-t!
Expect easy walking on mown grass paths. Three species of Mastophora have been found on the property!

Trip leader notes
Bring lunch with you! Please note that this will be a very slow-paced walk. Looking for Bolas Spiders requires careful examination of leaves. With that in mind, this trip may not be suitable for children.
