Between 6:20 am and 8:40 am, Daniel Irons Counted 436 Bobolinks
This morning at the Turkey Point Bird Count, between 6:20 and 8:40, Daniel Irons counted 436 Bobolinks! Many of the northern breeders are now riding the late summer cold fronts south to their wintering grounds. Yesterday, Daniel counted 73 Cape May Warblers, 25 Tennessee Warblers, and 28 Blackburnian Warblers! Of course, warblers often overshadow the impressive numbers of Purple Martins, Chimney Swifts, and Red-winged Blackbirds that are also migrating.

Daniel is not only counting birds, yesterday he counted an impressive 33 Monarchs and fours species on dragonflies. Yup, we are also counting migrating butterflies and dragonflies!

Remember, you can watch the Turkey Point numbers in real-time at the MBP Turkey Point Bird Count Page. Thanks to the Trektellon app, you can track fall migration from the comfort of your living room. Of course, it’s much better to be there in person!
