The Turkey Point Bird Count Is off to a Fantastic Start!
The Turkey Point Bird Count is off to a fantastic start. Daniel Irons is racking up the highlights, such as a migrant Dickcissel yesterday, as well as three Black Terns and impressive numbers of migrant Chimney Swifts (417!) today (8/10). In addition to these highlights, the relative abundance and timing of even the most expected migrants is extremely valuable. And the data will only become more valuable as we establish a baseline and build on it. Awesome work, Daniel!
Be sure to jump on the MBP project page to see Daniel’s tallies in near-real-time each day. It’s the first thing I do when I get on-line in the morning and it’s really cool.
