This distinctive Eurasian shorebird is a very rare vagrant to the East Coast of North America and is always cause for excitement. Maryland's first record was from February to early March 2005 in Frederick County (#2005-012) and our second was February 2013 in Talbot County (#2013-007). A third was found 12/21/2021 in Queen Anne's County (J. Wilkinson) and a fourth appeared at Blackwater NWR, Dorchester Co. on 3/14/2022 (G. Nupp).
