Found in groups on bark of dead hardwoods, especially oak and hickory.
Cap: White/brown, leathery/rigid, semicircular, pendant. Stalk: White, powdery; attached at top and extends into cap. Pores: White to brown. Autumn is normal growing season, but may be found any time of year as fruiting bodies persist (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
