Description:

Sandy Laccaria can be identified by the combination of habitat (always on sand), its brown or reddish brown cap, and purple gills.

Where to find:

As the common name suggests, Sandy Laccaria can be found in sand dunes. Although there are few reports for Maryland, the species has been found in at least 4 counties in the Coastal Plain on both sides of Chesapeake Bay.
