Cicindelidia punctulata is a generalist species which can utilize a wide variety of open habitats, including, but not limited to, including old strip mines, sparsely-used dirt roads, trails, sunny openings in forest, powerline rights-of-way, agricultural fields, and many others. It can be found in sandy, loamy, or clay substrates, and is considered by Knisley & Schultz (1997) to have the widest range of habitat preferences of any North American tiger beetle. It should occur statewide in Maryland, and is active as an adult in the summer.
