The aptly named toad bug is amphibuous, equally capable of swift underwater motion and leaping many times its body length when on land. Note its bulging eyes and bumpy pronotum and elytra. This is the only member of the Gelastocoridae family in the mid-Atlantic (D. Webb, 2014).
