Golden Chanterelle Cantharellus cibarius Fries
Kingdom Fungi   >   Phylum Basidiomycota   >   Class Agaricomycetes   >   Order Cantharellales   >   Family Cantharellaceae   >   Genus Cantharellus

Status:

Historically, our larger dark-yellow to orange 'Golden Chanterelle' was called Cantharellus cibarius. It now appears that species is restricted to the Old World but it is not yet clear which species occur in Maryland. Several similar-looking species have been reported from the East Coast including Cantharellus appalachiensis and Cantharellus tenuithrix. Additional study is necessary. See the genus Cantharellus checklist for species reported from Maryland.

There are 14 records in the project database.
