Status:

Found solitary or scattered on the ground under hardwoods or conifers. Fruits in late summer and fall (J. Solem, pers. comm.).

Description:

A bowl-like collar is present below the spore sac. Unlike the similar-appearing Barometer Earthstar, the rays of the Collared Earthstar are not hygroscopic (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
