Status:

Found scattered in hardwood forests, especially among oaks.

Description:

Cap purplish or purplish-red, often with olive/yellow/brown tones; margin grooved in age. Stalk white, usually flushed with pink. Close white gills (cream in age), often forked (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
