Status:

Found on living or recently dead coniferous trunks and stumps.

Description:

Body tan, stalkless, globular, or hoof-shaped. Pores covered with thick veil becoming exposed only at maturity.

Relationships:

Affiliated with conifers. Breakdown of the veil is assisted by a variety of small insects and other arthropods which bore through the veil and allow the dissemination of the spores (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
