Status:

Fruiting body: Infertile (outer) surface blue-green; fertile (inner) surface blue-green (sometimes yellow-green); smooth; saucer to cup-shaped. Stalk: Blue-green, often off-center. Spores must be examined to distinguish C. aeruginascens from nearly identical C. aeruginosa (not yet confirmed for the project) and the two species are treated together here.

Relationships:

Found in groups or clusters on hardwood logs, mostly oaks; often stain wood substrate blue-green. (J. Solem, pers. comm.)
