Status:

Found solitary, scattered, or rarely in clusters of 2-4 on ground in coniferous or mixed woods.

Description:

Cap: Light violet to buff (in age), smooth, convex to slightly depressed (in age); flesh white to violet-buff. Gills: Dark to light purple-violet, thick and waxy. Stalk: Light brown or pinkish with longitudinal striations, sometimes an enlarged base (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
