Status:

Found solitary or in groups on decaying conifer logs or stumps, also partially buried wood.

Description:

Cap: Dull olive to blackish-brown; felty smooth, covered with matted hairs; convex, disc may be depressed in age; margin inrolled when young; flesh whitish, thick, tough. Gills: Tan to dull yellow; decurrent; close, often forked, may be porelike near stalk. Stalk: Eccentric to nearly lateral; light brown; velvety, covered with densely matted dark hairs; equal or tapers up (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
