Status:

Found solitary or in groups on ground in coniferous forests, especially white pine locally.

Description:

Cap: Yellow-gold to orange zoned with bands of rusty-orange with greenish spots in age, white or pale orange in center; smooth, slippery when wet; convex, nearly flat, or funnel-shaped (in age); margin inrolled and powdery (uplifted in age); flesh white to pale yellow-orange, stains green then gray; latex orange slowing staining yellow-orange, the blue-green, finally gray-green. Gills: Yellow to orange, salmon-buff in age; slightly decurrent; close. Stalk: Colored like cap, white at base, often with green-blue spots in age; dry; smooth; cylindrical, tapered at base; stuffed, hollow in age (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
