Found in a variety of xeric habitats, including dry forests and fields (including cultivated fields), hilltops, oak and pine dunes, xerophyl scrub, shrub steppe, and grassy fields, but also on lawns and roadsides. Smith (1979) noted that they are considered a house pest in the Gulf Coast states. (See Frye et al., 2014)
