Status:

Arisaema taxonomy is hotly debated among botanists. Some experts consider Bog Jack in the Pulpit and Small Jack in the Pulpit to be subspecies of Common Jack in the Pulpit. Here at the Maryland Biodiversity Project we follow the plant taxonomy of Knapp & Naczi, 2017 which considers the three Jack in Pulpits to be separate species.

Bog Jack in the Pulpit is an uncommon plant of bog habitats unlike Common Jack in the Pulpit which is almost always found in mesic forests. The lack of records may not indicate rarity as many plant enthusiasts and experts do not consider the three species of Arisaema (Jack in the Pulpits) as distinct.

There are 11 records in the project database.
