Two forms. The distorted form (see Richard Orr's July 2016 photos) is the more common. It lacks a defined cap and stalk; pores cover the entire surface and may discolor pink to red-bown. Flesh: White, tough, may exude a pinkish juice when squeezed (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
On hardwoods or on ground from roots.
