Description:

Tiny (1-3mm) disc-shaped fruiting bodies on bark of living trees. Fertile surface: buff-pink becoming brownish and powdery in age; sterile surface: white, hairy. May overwinter (J. Solem, pers. comm.).

Where to find:

Found on bark of hophornbeam, hickories, oaks, and other hardwoods. A closely related species occurs on conifers.
