Found solitary or in groups on ground in conifer woods, infrequently in hardwood forests.
Fruiting body: Orange to pinkish-buff (darker in age); forked, upright, parallel branches with multiple pointed tips yellowish at first; white flesh bruises brown; surface smooth. Basal stalk: White with rhizomorphs in substrate. Odor: Often sweet or spicy. (J. Solem, pers. comm.)
