Adults of this undescribed species appear similar to Acrocercops astericola and Leucospilapteryx venustella. L. sp. 1 can be distinguished by the all-white tarsi of the forelegs and midlegs, which have dark spots or bands in the other two species (BugGuide). The caterpillars create a tentiform blotch mine at the leaf tip (Eiseman, 2021: 714). The species may prove to be common and widespread like its host plants.
Larval host plants include rosette grasses, including Deertongue.
