Status:

Stereum fasciatum is part of the Stereum ostrea complex. Recent studies have suggested that Stereum ostrea may not occur in North America (e.g., Delong-Duhon & Bagley, 2020, unpublished)

Description:

Stereum fasciatum has fine hairs arranged in clumps that do not wear off in bands. The undersurface does not stain yellow when bruised (MycoGuide). A hand lens may be necessary to distinguish this species from similar species of Stereum.
