Holopogon oriens is mostly northeastern in distribution, and was formerly lumped with H. guttulus. These small species are all rather similar, and perch on the tips of twigs and stems in a similar fashion to a Cerotainia, which have much longer antennae than Holopogon (Herschel Raney's RNA site; Norm Lavers' robber fly site).
