Andrena illini
Kingdom Animalia   >   Phylum Arthropoda   >   Class Insecta   >   Order Hymenoptera   >   Family Andrenidae   >   Genus Andrena

Status:

A large bee active in spring. Named after the University of Illinois football team by Wally LaBerge, one of the great taxonomy experts that we recently lost. He was a specialist in Andrena and Melissodes and dabbled in several other genera of bees. (S. Droege, pers. comm.)

Relationships:

Sam Droege associates this species with blackberry blossoms, but adds that, like others of its group, it probably occurs on a wide variety of woody plants.

There are 27 records in the project database.
