Cladonia macilenta in Anne Arundel Co., Marland (6/12/2013). Identified by Lance Biechele, who points out the following characters to distinguish from British Soldiers: "If you look carefully at the podetia, they are thin and tapering with red apothecia only on a few plants. This is a nice picture of Cladonia macilenta Hoffm. var. bacillaris (Genth.) Schaer. Common throughout, usually on conifer wood." Photo by Bill Hubick. (MBP list)
