Status:

The Orange Sulphur (Colias eurytheme), like its close relative, the Clouded Sulphur, has a huge range encompassing much of North America. This butterfly can be a very common sight in open habitats, including agricultural areas and roadsides. It is particularly attracted to legumes, including alfalfa (Butterflies of Maryland: A Biological Summary and Checklist by Lynn Davidson & Richard Smith; Brock & Kaufman 2003).

Relationships:

Orange Sulphur uses a variety of legumes, including clovers (Trifolium), alfalfa (Medicago sativa), and the introduced crownvetch (Securigera varia) as larval food plants.
