Status:

A European species that was introduced into Nova Scotia sometime prior to 1905, and which has since spread west at least to Ontario and southward into the northeastern states. A Maryland specimen (5/25/1986) from Southaven, Anne Arundel County, is the southernmost record known to us. European food plants include nettle, Urtica dioica, and species of Marrubium, Stachys, Mentha, Calystegia, and Ribes (Glaser, Micromoths, 2005).
