The Citrine Forktail (Ischnura hastata) is a tiny damselfly often found in dense grassy vegetation bordering ponds or lakes, in marshes, or at seeps. Mature males are distinctively mostly lemon yellow on the abdomen. This species has the stigma of the forewing not in contact with the costal margin, a unique feature, but generally only visible in the hand. (Lam, 2004). This species is widespread and common in Maryland (Richard Orr's Dragonflies and Damselflies of Maryland and the District of Columbia).
