Frosted Whiteface (Leucorrhinia frigida) is a small species of the primarily northern genus Leucorrhinia, near the southern terminus of its range in Maryland. The species is found in ponds or lakes with vegetated edges, and a muddy bottom, but also boggy habitats with acidic water (Paulson, 2011). There aer only two records of this species from Maryland: it was recorded in the Catoctin Mts. of Frederick Co. in 2007, and from a site in Garrett Co. in 2008 (Richard Orr's The Dragonflies and Damselflies of Maryland and the District of Columbia). It is ranked as S1 (highly state rare).
There are 2 records in the project database.
