Status:

A common non-native plant that has become established throughout the state. Most often found in open disturbed habitats. Velvetleaf is native to southern Asia, and was first introduced to North America in the 1700's.

Relationships:

Host plant for Common Checkered Skipper and the leaf-mining fly Calycomyza malvae.

Louisiana Scentless Plant Bug is used as a biocontrol agent to control Velvetleaf (BugGuide).
