Status:

Found scattered or in groups on decaying conifers, especially pines.

Description:

Cap: Yellow base color with red/purplish-red scales/fibers; dry; convex, disc depressed (nearly flat in age); flesh pale yellow, thick. Gills: Yellow, close. Stalk: Yellow ground color with red or purple-red scales/fibers; dry; cylindrical, often curved; may be hollow in age (J. Solem, pers. comm.).
