Atamasco Lily Zephyranthes atamasca (Linnaeus) HerbertEndangered (MD)  -  S1 (Highly state rare)  -  Vulnerable  -  Worcester only  -  Coastal Plain only  Synonyms: Atamasco atamasca, Atamasco-lily, Rain Lily.


Atamasco Lilies reach their northern limit on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. They are highly state rare and state endangered with a ranking of S1. There is only one population in Maryland. This unprotected population is found in rich alluvial soils at the headwater of a stream in coastal Worcester County. Maryland's population of Atatmasco Lily is the northern most known population (MD DNR, 2017).
