Gallinipper Psorophora ciliata (Fabricus, 1794)

Status:

The Gallinipper is the largest mosquito species in Maryland. Its large size and hairiness make it easy to identify. As with other mosquito species, only the females feed on blood, and both males and females feed on nectar.
