Field Trip List MBP Field Trips Previous

Dorchester and Wicomico Counties

On Saturday, February 11, Jim Brighton will be leading our first field trip of 2023. Join us for an exploration of Dorchester and Wicomico Counties. We will do two (semi-long) hikes. One in the Sharptown Dunes area of Wicomico County and one in the sandy pine tracts of North Tara Road in Dorchester County. Interspersed between the two walks we will make a few stops in interesting habitats. Of course, we will be starting our day in Cambridge with a brief stop to see the Aytha (Canvasback/scaup) spectacle at Oakley Street before making our foray into the wilds.

We are going to limit the trip participation to 15 people. These trips tend to fill quickly so please sign up to guarantee your spot. To sign up please send Jim an email at [email protected]. We will announce on the MBP socials when the trip is full.

A few things to consider. It’s winter and it will most likely be cold, especially if the wind is blowing. We will be away from the shelter of vehicles for extended periods of time. PLEASE DRESS ACCORDINGLY! There will be one bathroom break around noon at a convenience store, where you can also get food for lunch (Subway). There will also be a bathroom at our meeting place in Cambridge. We will cancel the trip if there is the threat of snow, rain, or hazardous roadways.
